When you are zooming by you notice a tiny restaurant, it sits off of the highway right beside a house. But there's a sign that reads Comida Restaurante Mexicana. Count me in, U-turn, swing back by!
It's a basic menu, I was really hoping for more comfort food like chilaquiles with poached eggs, but I can take the basic staples. Two Al Pastor tacos and a sweet tea for $7. Yay! They do not speak much English, that kind of makes it even better!
A great road side stop, way better than fast food any day! -

Best tacos I've ever eaten! I got the pork tacos mexicanos (corn tortillas instead of flour). It comes with tons of cilantro, a lime and lime sauce. My husband got a chicken burrito which was also delicious. SO SO good. Doesn't look like much from the road, but totally worth the stop.

Shhhh ... its a secret. At least I'd never heard of this place before my buddy Mike got me to meet him there for lunch. I had the Tortas Cubanas (cuban sandwich) with three meats which were cut into strips, fried, and served piping hot on soft, loaf-like sandwich bread. Very good and met my high expectations for this kind of sandwich. Mike ventured away from the Mexican Tacos, which had secured this place in his (rather picky) repertoire of go-to restaurants, and had a burrito which met but did not exceed his expectations (how do make an exceptional burrito, anyway?).
The only "indoor" seating is in a kind of enclosed patio that feels like you're outdoors. Actual outdoor seating as well. Not many tables but nobody seems to know about this place so it's not a problem.
Athens foodies will be reminded of Caliente Cab on Lumpkin Ave. This place is easy to miss just before you turn off of Hwy 441 to go to Sandy Creek Park.
The menu is basically Mexican but I saw a burger and chicken fingers on there as well.
If you like good and interesting food at a good price in a fun, kitschy atmosphere you're going to be excited to find this place. -

Delightful little place with all of the Mexican staples cooked fresh to order. Despite being right off Hwy 441 just before Sandy Creek Park, it is not well known. After ordering at the window, have a seat at one of the outdoor tables. There the owner will bring your food. Palm trees, plants, and even a coy pond make for a nice relaxing atmosphere. The food is tasty and VERY reasonably priced. We enjoyed the friendly service and will definitely be back!
